Elmo’s World Cake

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Sesame Street has so many beloved characters for preschool children, even older children still love them! I love to help plan cakes in themes like this, however it is important to remember that Elmo and all his good buddies from Sesame Street are copyrighted characters.

This is one way to have your Elmo cake and eat it too! I made a cake decorated in the hand drawn style that makes Elmo’s World so fun for children and added a card purchased at the store, by the client- in this case me, as the cake was for my daughter. The card was protected on the bottom edges so it could be preserved form buttercream frosting and saved for a scrapbook. Another way to do this cake would have been to purchase an Elmo toy to place on top as I did for a Care Bear cake.

Shh, Baby’s Sleeping

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

A peaceful baby with red curls sleeps on top of a fun chocolaty cake covered in dots. The gerber daisy and bow are made of gumpaste. Designed with the colors from a napkin, this cake is made in the style often called Mad Hatter, because the tiers are shaped to look a bit like the hat of Alice’s friend.

What a fun way to welcome little Danika Jane into the world!

Congratulations Jason and Jessica!
