Elmo’s World Cake

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Sesame Street has so many beloved characters for preschool children, even older children still love them! I love to help plan cakes in themes like this, however it is important to remember that Elmo and all his good buddies from Sesame Street are copyrighted characters.

This is one way to have your Elmo cake and eat it too! I made a cake decorated in the hand drawn style that makes Elmo’s World so fun for children and added a card purchased at the store, by the client- in this case me, as the cake was for my daughter. The card was protected on the bottom edges so it could be preserved form buttercream frosting and saved for a scrapbook. Another way to do this cake would have been to purchase an Elmo toy to place on top as I did for a Care Bear cake.

Tulare County Panhellenic Woman of the Year

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

Congratulations go out to Katy Rominger, who recently received the award for Woman of the Year from Tulare County Panhellenic.

With this cake I tried to incorporate all the emblems of Katy’s sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta.

Their pin design, a kite, with its twin stars and Greek letters is on to. The edges are adorned with royal icing pansies, their flower.
